Whew! If you’ve been scrolling through your timeline, you may have come across some jaw-dropping claims like: “49 shootings in 48 hours in Atlanta!” Sounds like a scene from an action movie, right? But here’s the truth: it’s NOT exactly what folks are saying! People please! These are REAL VICTIMS and Real people who live in these communities and they can be frightened by this nonsense. Some people are making plans to move after that, I'm sure. Bad enough this happened
Let’s break it down because somebody clearly misunderstood the assignment.
First, the Facts: What Actually Happened?
Over a 49-hour period in Atlanta, 18 people were shot in multiple incidents across the city. The numbers are real, the pain is real, but no—there were not 49 separate shootings.

On the evening of July 24, 2025, things turned chaotic at Empire Park in Southeast Atlanta.
An 18-year-old named Deshawn Johnson was killed.
Five others were wounded in what police believe were linked shootings nearby—at an apartment complex and in a car stopped on the road.
Over 100 shell casings were recovered. ONE HUNDRED.

There were NOT 49 separate shootings.
