Cardi B and Ice Spice are two Bronx-born rappers who helped define different chapters of a fast-moving hip-hop era. They have praised one another, appeared in the same circles, and then watched their names become attached to one of rap's most discussed rivalries. What began as lyrical interpretation developed into an ugly leaked phone conversation and collateral conflict involving Latto. Meanwhile, Cardi's disputes with JT, BIA, and Nicki Minaj have repeatedly collided with the conversation, making it difficult to tell which issue began where. So let's get into what actually happened, what each artist has said, and why the timeline matters.

First, get the year right: Cardi's album arrived in 2025

Cardi released her long-awaited second studio album, Am I the Drama?, on September 19, 2025. Her first album, Invasion of Privacy, came out in 2018, so anticipation had been building for more than seven years. By the time the follow-up arrived, Cardi was no longer simply an exciting newcomer with a breakout hit; she was an established celebrity, mother, and Grammy-winning artist managing enormous expectations about what her second full-length statement should sound like.

The album made news for much more than its competitive bars. It included collaborations with other major musicians, frank material about her failed marriage to Offset, and songs that shifted between vulnerability and full-throttle bravado. Still, listeners immediately focused on the diss records. Magnet became a major talking point because multiple passages were interpreted as addressing rappers in Cardi's orbit. Pretty & Petty, meanwhile, directly confronted BIA. These were 2025 releases, not tracks that appeared for the first time in October 2026.

That difference is important in an era where an old Instagram clip can become a 'breaking' story the moment somebody reposts it. The record's release is the beginning of one phase of the feud, but the story has older roots and developments that continued well into 2026.

Before the disses, Ice Spice publicly gave Cardi her flowers

If you only knew the women through current feud threads, you might assume they always disliked each other. That is not what the public record shows. In a 2022 Audiomack interview, Ice Spice spoke appreciatively about Cardi's impact and about what it meant to see another Bronx woman make an enormous mark on hip-hop. The two artists were associated with the same borough at different stages of their careers, and that shared New York identity made a possible alliance attractive to fans.

The connection also became entangled with one of the biggest rivalries in mainstream rap: Cardi B and Nicki Minaj. Ice Spice's public association with Nicki, including music collaborations, encouraged online observers to read their relationships through a 'choose a side' lens. Yet an artist collaborating with someone is not automatic proof that she has declared war on everybody that collaborator has argued with. That distinction often disappeared in fan conversations.

By 2024, listeners were hunting for coded insults and reasons why a friendly relationship might have cooled. Interviews, lyrics, social-media interactions, and rumored private disagreements were collected into competing fan theories. Some pieces of that timeline are documented. Others remain interpretations rather than statements directly confirmed by the artists.

Ice Spice's BB Belt and the line fans connected to Cardi

Ice Spice released BB Belt on her 2024 album Y2K!, and fans interpreted a claim about taking someone's spot as a potential shot at Cardi. The identity of an unnamed subject in a rap lyric is not always provable. In this case, though, the speculation acquired more weight when Cardi later answered a similar idea on Magnet. Both women had something obvious to defend: a place in a crowded industry that thrives on the idea that only a small number of female rappers can occupy the top tier at once.

That scarcity narrative deserves scrutiny. Rap competition can be entertaining and artistically productive, but the assumption that one woman's success necessarily displaces another's is an industry and audience choice, not a law of music. Cardi had already amassed major commercial achievements, while Ice Spice represented a newer wave of viral visibility. Their careers were not identical, and it is possible for each to appeal to different listeners.

Magnet: Cardi responds without turning the song into a press conference

When Magnet arrived in September 2025, music journalists widely read one passage as Cardi answering Ice Spice's perceived challenge to her standing. Cardi questioned the idea that another rapper could simply take her position and emphasized her staying power. The line circulated because it was brief, confrontational, and easy to turn into a video caption. Fans knew the earlier BB Belt discussion, so the reference seemed obvious to many of them.

But the song wasn't simply an 'Ice Spice diss.' Much of Magnet concerned Cardi's broader frustrations with former associates and musical competitors. Reports connected especially sharp lines to JT, the former City Girls rapper, and to JT's partner Lil Uzi Vert. Treating the entire track as a one-on-one contest distorts how Cardi built the record: different parts of it appear to address different conflicts, and not every unnamed person can be identified beyond doubt.

For listeners who enjoy rap's competitive history, there is an important artistic question beneath the headlines. Is Magnet memorable because of its technical delivery, its production, and its swagger, or because fans could attach famous names to specific insults? Diss records can succeed at both. They can also leave an audience so a

bsorbed in detective work that the music itself becomes secondary.

The leaked phone call changed the conversation

The most explosive public development arrived around September 29 and 30, 2025, when audio circulated purporting to capture a heated call between Cardi and Ice Spice's manager, James Rosemond Jr. In the recording, a voice identified in reporting as Cardi's made aggressive statements about confronting Ice Spice and her producer RiotUSA. Reporting by Complex, XXL, and other outlets described the threats and the widespread reaction. The recording's precise original date was not independently established in the initial reports; some commentators speculated it had been made in 2024.

The incident was troubling because it moved beyond lyrical sparring. A performer threatening violence, even during an emotional private call, is not the same thing as delivering a diss on a record. The reported audio should not be romanticized as entertainment simply because both artists are famous. At the same time, a circulated clip may omit surrounding context. Cardi subsequently discussed being angry during the exchange and requested that the entire recording be released rather than treating a short excerpt as a complete account.

Rosemond reportedly denied leaking the call. Speculation about who recorded

it, why it surfaced when it did, and what happened in earlier conversations has filled social feeds, but a complete independent record has not been made public in the sources reviewed. That makes attribution essential. The available reporting supports describing what circulated, what the people involved said afterward, and what remains unknown. It does not support confidently inventing the motive behind the leak.

And then Latto got dragged into it

The leaked call didn't only mention Ice Spice. It also included disparaging references to Latto, an artist who had worked with Cardi and, by September 2025, had recently appeared on a remix of Cardi's ErrTime. That timing made the remarks particularly awkward. Fans who had been discussing Cardi versus Ice suddenly had another question: what happens when someone publicly compliments or collaborates with a woman but privately refers to her disrespectfully?

Cardi publicly apologized to Latto after the audio surfaced, saying she had been angry and that she respected Latto. That should have been the end of it for anyone who believes an apology automatically closes a dispute. Latto evidently felt differently. In 2026 she released Gimme Dat, a track that listeners connected to Cardi's remarks, and in a June appearance on The Breakfast Club she confirmed a reference to Cardi while explaining why the incident hurt. Latto said she had rushed to contribute to Cardi's remix while pregnant, only to hear the leaked comments afterward.

Cardi responded in June 2026 that she had tried to take responsibility both publicly and privately. She described attempts to reach Latto through messages and people close to her. Whatever the full private communication, the public statements reveal something more complicated than a simple team sport. One woman says she apologized and wanted to repair the friendship; the other says the original insult left a lasting bad taste. Fans don't have to choose between acknowledging an apology and understanding that reconciliation cannot be forced.

The Latto episode also shows how rap conflicts spread beyond their apparent original participants. An argument about Ice Spice became a story about a friendship, collaboration, and whether private language can damage public trust.

JT and Cardi: A former collaboration becomes a very public dispute

The Cardi–JT story has a separate history. Cardi appeared on City Girls' 2018 hit Twerk, when a collaboration between women in rap helped generate enormous attention. The public relationship later deteriorated. In 2022, tensions escalated during social-media exchanges connected to GloRilla's Tomorrow 2 remix featuring Cardi. Both women exchanged barbs online, and the arguments developed their own following independent of whatever Cardi and Ice Spice were doing.

Subsequent tracks, public posts, and questions about loyalty kept that feud alive. In 2025, coverage interpreted parts of Magnet as referring to JT as a former friend who had failed to show loyalty. The song also appeared to direct disrespectful references at Lil Uzi Vert. Some fans treated every line as a proven accusation; a more careful account recognizes these as Cardi's artistic statements and the interpretations surrounding them, not independently established descriptions of another person's private conduct.

JT's career doesn't exist only in reaction to Cardi, either. She developed solo work and her own artistic identity after City Girls. Their falling-out is relevant because they once shared a successful record and appeared to move within overlapping social circles. The bitterness reads differently when the two performers were previously collaborators rather than strangers competing for attention.

BIA and Cardi: A different feud, a different song

BIA's argument with Cardi has its own timeline, reaching back through public speculation about musical similarities and escalating in 2024. BIA's SUE MEEE? criticized Cardi, including personal allegations that Cardi disputed. Cardi later explained publicly why certain remarks, particularly those touching her family, infuriated her. None of the accusations in a diss track should be treated as evidence of the underlying alleged personal conduct.

Cardi's direct musical response was Pretty & Petty o

n Am I the Drama? in September 2025. Unlike listeners guessing whom a veiled lyric addressed, this record made BIA the unmistakable target. Cardi mocked her recognition and career standing, revisited disputes, and challenged her with brash punchlines. Coverage by People, Complex, TMZ, and other outlets broke down how the two performers had arrived at this point.

Importantly, the BIA feud didn't freeze in 2025. In August 2026, reporting documented another flare-up after BIA publicly stood by assertions in her earlier diss record. Cardi responded during a conversation on X Spaces. That makes it fair to describe Cardi and BIA as a continuing 2026 dispute. It would still be inaccurate to present the September 2025 album itself as a newly released 2026 project. The difference between an old song and new responses is precisely what good entertainment reporting must preserve.

Nicki Minaj and the fan wars in the background

Any conversation about Cardi's rivalries is likely to draw Nicki Minaj into the comments, even when the most immediate dispute is with someone else. Cardi and Nicki have a years-long public history, and Ice Spice's work with Nicki made some fans interpret the younger rapper's relationship with Cardi as another front in that conflict. When Nicki and Cardi exchanged renewed social-media jabs in late September 2025, the Ice Spice audio surfaced into an already combustible environment.

That overlap matters because fan communities can turn separate events into a single giant confrontation. One argument involves lyrics; another involves a leaked private conversation; another involves a collaborator who felt disrespected; and another involves artists who have feuded for years. Connecting those events can reveal real context, but claiming that one person secretly engineered every other dispute goes beyond the documented evidence.

Did Ice Spice respond? What is known and what is speculation

In the days following the 2025 album, fans scrutinized Ice Spice's posts and previews for a response. Some treated lyrics in teased music or statements about peace and happiness as indirect answers. But The FADER reported in October 2025 that Ice Spice had not made an explicit public response to the leaked call or to Magnet. The distinction between a direct statement and a fan theory is vital. A cryptic post may be about the controversy, or it may have nothing to do with it.

The difference also helps explain why these conflicts drag on. When an artist does not plainly address a subject, speculation fills the gap. Fans start reading every hairstyle, repost, concert lyric, and birthday message as proof of a changing alliance. Silence can be interpreted as maturity by one audience and weakness by another. Neither interpretation proves what the artist actually intended.

What 2026 added to the story

If we're discussing the rivalry as of October 13, 2026, we need to distinguish developments by year. The major Cardi–Ice flashpoint was the 2025 release of Magnet and the leaked call. The Latto fallout continued into June 2026 when Gimme Dat and the interview discussion revived the issue. The Cardi–BIA conflict flared again in August 2026. Those later developments help explain why the original album's disses still circulate. They do not establish that Cardi and Ice have entered a newly confirmed October 2026 confrontation.

The most responsible description is that old disputes are continuing to shape how audiences interpret newer music and social-media exchanges. If Cardi or Ice issues a new direct statement, that would warrant a fresh update. Without one, reporters should resist turning year-old clips into a claim of an overnight feud.

The real conversation: Why does female rap get treated like a single available seat?

There is no shortage of talented women in rap, yet the industry still markets their careers as if only one can be celebrated at a time. Listeners compare streams, album sales, viral clips, chart entries, endorsements, and appearance as though these measurements establish a single permanent champion. Competition is part of hip-hop, but reducing a rich field of artists to rankings and feuds serves platforms hungry for constant argument.

Cardi is entitled to defend her accomplishments. Ice Spice is entitled to pursue her place without being expected to defer forever to older stars. JT, BIA, Latto, and Nicki each have work that deserves analysis outside their disagreements. A real music conversation asks what distinguishes their styles, what innovations they've brought, and whether the records hold up beyond the headlines.

The ugly side should also be named. Threats of violence, attacks on family members, and harassment by fan accounts aren't harmless just because celebrities are the participants. Critics can discuss a diss record without encouraging an actual confrontation. We can enjoy spirited competition and still question the behavior that makes the spectacle profitable.

Where things stand and why it matters

So, is Cardi B feuding with Ice Spice? There is well-documented public tension involving lyrics widely interpreted as digs and a leaked heated call. But the precise original date and full context of that call have not been independently established from the public record reviewed here. The BIA and JT conflicts have separate histories, while Latto's 2026 remarks show how consequences from one exchange can outlast the original scandal.

And that, to me, is what makes this story bigger than a punchline. When friendship, ambition, business, respect, and personal ego collide, the internet gets endless entertainment. The people involved still have careers and relationships to manage after the trending topic disappears. So before we declare a winner, maybe we ought to ask whether we've actually heard each woman's side—and whether we're discussing the music or simply enjoying the chaos.
