Drake and PartyNextDoor Drop Valentine's Day Surprise: "$ome $exy $ongs 4 U"

On Valentine's Day 2025, music lovers were treated to an unexpected gift from two of Canada's finest: Drake and PartyNextDoor. Their new collaborative album, titled "$ome $exy $ongs 4 U" ($$$4U), has been a long time coming since their partnership began when PartyNextDoor joined Drake's OVO Sound label over a decade ago.

This 21-track album clocks in at 74 minutes, offering a blend of modern R&B and Drake's narrative lyricism. Featured artists include Pim, Chino Pacas, and Yebba, bringing diverse sounds to the project. Production credits go to the likes of Noel Cadastre, Gordo, and Jordan Ullman, ensuring a cohesive and polished sound that fans have come to expect from these artists.

The album's cover art, showcasing Drake and PartyNextDoor against the iconic Absolute World towers in Mississauga amidst a snowstorm, captured the attention of fans weeks before the release. Social media teasers, including a promotional skit, built up the anticipation to a crescendo.

"$ome $exy $ongs 4 U" follows Drake's "For All the Dogs" and PartyNextDoor's "PartyNextDoor 4", with the former being one of 2023's most streamed albums. This project not only marks a significant collaboration but also ties in with a screenplay inspired by an unreleased novel by Drake's father, Dennis Graham, adding a unique layer to the release.

While the album has been celebrated for its timely release on Valentine's Day, offering a perfect soundtrack for lovers, some critics have pointed out that Drake's contributions might lean too heavily on well-trodden lyrical paths. Nevertheless, the album seems set to make waves in the charts, potentially defining the sound of love in 2025.
