Nicki Minaj, one of the most influential and wealthiest female rappers in the world, is facing an unexpected legal battle that could put her $20 million Los Angeles mansion on the line. According to an exclusive report from Us Weekly, a motion has been filed in L.A. court seeking to force the sale of her Hidden Hills estate to settle a six-figure debt owed to a former employee.
The Backstory
The dispute stems from a 2019 incident in Germany, where Thomas Weidenmuller worked as a security guard for Minaj’s show. He alleges that when a fan breached security, Minaj became upset with staff, and when he stepped in to de-escalate, her husband Kenneth Petty struck him in the face. Weidenmuller required surgery to repair his jaw, and in March 2024, a court awarded him $503,000 in damages.
Minaj and Petty never responded to the lawsuit, leading to a default judgment. But more than a year later, the debt remains unpaid, pushing Weidenmuller to seek more aggressive legal remedies.
The Mansion at Risk
Court filings reveal Minaj’s mansion, purchased in December 2022 for $19.5 million, is now being targeted as collateral. The sprawling 11,820-square-foot Hidden Hills property boasts 11 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms, and is currently appraised at $20 million.
Records show the home carries a $13.25 million mortgage lien and a $722,000 homestead exemption, leaving around $6 million in equity. Weidenmuller argues that’s more than enough to satisfy his judgment plus interest and fees.

The Motion to Sell
In his October 6 motion, Weidenmuller told the court:
“Here, there is no doubt that the sale of the dwelling would satisfy the entire judgment, with millions to spare.”
His attorney added that while forcing the sale of a home is an “extraordinary measure,” Minaj’s refusal to pay despite multiple requests has left them with no choice. They argue Minaj’s global superstar status and reported net worth of $150–190 million prove she has the means to settle the debt, but has instead chosen not to comply.
What’s Next
If the judge agrees, Nicki Minaj could be forced to sell her Hidden Hills home — a dramatic turn for an artist who has built an empire on music, tours, and endorsements. Beyond the financial implications, the case raises questions about accountability and reputation for celebrities who often live under intense public scrutiny.
For Minaj, this legal showdown arrives at a pivotal moment in her career. Known as the “Queen of Rap,” she has dominated charts, shaped culture, and amassed a loyal fan base. Yet, even for an icon with global influence, legal obligations can’t be ignored.
The court has not yet ruled on whether the mansion will be sold, but the outcome could mark one of the most high-profile celebrity property seizures in recent memory. Until then, the hip-hop world — and Nicki’s Barbz — will be watching closely to see how the saga unfolds.
