Simone Johnson Debuts as Ava Raine on WWE NXT

Tuesday night fans were in attendance at a WWE NXT Show, when Simone Johnson debuted as Ava Raine. Her debut was met, with a pause and cheer from the crowd as they realized who the fourth generation wrestling star was. Her introduction to the wrestling world was shrouded in mystery as Joe Gacy had three new members of The Schism standing in the ring masked up. Ava was the last to unmask and the crowd had a shocking pause and then popped after realizing that it was really Simone.

Fans today might know who her father is (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) but wrestling fans share a different connection with the family and The Rock may be the biggest name in the family - you can argue that it's the tribal chief - so from sheer reflex of the connection she was also welcomed with a brief "rocky" chant, and it was very brief (rightfully so).

There was some unwarranted controversy about Simone not taking on "the Rock" monicker (or any iteration of it), but it was quickly shot down by the star saying she wants to make a name for herself, and don't want any questions of her success to be "because of who her father is". With that attitude towards her life and career, there's no way for her not to be one of the biggest stars in the industry.
