Tamar Braxton vs. Funky Dineva: When Shade Turns Into Full-Blown Beef

ree

If there’s one thing the internet will never let slide, it’s Tamar Braxton versus Funky Dineva going at it online. These two have a history of throwing subtle shade (and not-so-subtle digs), but their latest round of back-and-forth proves that the drama is alive, well, and messy.

Where It All Started

Tamar Braxton has never been one to bite her tongue. Known for her larger-than-life personality, the R&B diva and reality star has a reputation for clapping back at anybody who comes for her. Funky Dineva, on the other hand, is the self-proclaimed “shade assassin” of Black YouTube commentary. He’s been building his platform for years by mixing gossip with biting humor—sometimes hitting nerves, especially when he goes after celebrities who don’t like being the butt of the joke.

The tension between Tamar and Funky Dineva dates back years, with Tamar accusing him of being “obsessed” with her, while Funky often called her “washed” or dragged her for her public ups and downs. Tamar once even accused him of disrespecting Black women in the industry while trying to profit off their pain.

The Latest Explosion

This week, things reignited after Funky Dineva made comments on his show that Tamar felt crossed the line. While discussing her new projects (including her highly anticipated EP and TV ventures), Funky allegedly dismissed her as “still chasing relevance” and hinted that her comeback “ain’t coming.” Whew.

Tamar was not having it. She jumped on social media with a fiery rant, telling her followers:

“Y’all let these bloggers tear Black women down for likes and views… Funky been talking about me for YEARS. I don’t care about his wigs, I don’t care about his reads, but keep my name OUT your mouth if you don’t respect me!”

Funky, being Funky, didn’t back down. He doubled down on his platform, saying:

“Tamar, baby, if you stop giving us so much material, we wouldn’t have nothing to talk about. I just call it like I see it. Don’t nobody care about your tantrums.”

And just like that—shots fired on both sides.

Fans Take Sides

Social media, of course, ate it up. Tamar’s fans (the Tamartians) flooded Funky’s comments, accusing him of targeting Black women while letting men in the industry off the hook. Funky’s supporters clapped back, saying Tamar loves playing the victim and thrives off keeping her name trending.

  • One user tweeted: “Funky Dineva is out of pocket. He drags Tamar like it’s a sport. Enough already.”

  • Another shot back: “Tamar can dish it but can’t take it. She’s been messy for years, Funky just gives her the same energy she puts out.”

The Bigger Conversation

Beyond the laughs and shady memes, this beef highlights something deeper in Black entertainment culture: the tension between celebrities and bloggers/commentators. Celebs like Tamar feel exploited when bloggers use their personal struggles as punchlines. Meanwhile, bloggers argue that if you live your life publicly and monetize it through reality TV and social media, then you’re fair game.

It’s a messy cycle: Tamar claps back to defend herself → Funky drags her more because she responded → social media keeps boosting it → both of them benefit from the attention.

Will They Ever Make Peace?

Honestly, don’t count on it. Tamar has publicly forgiven and reconciled with people before, but Funky’s style of commentary is rooted in not backing down. Unless both sides decide the clicks aren’t worth it, the drama will keep bubbling up whenever Tamar makes a big career move.
